Not long ago, Xiaomi had a global launch for the Redmi Note 9 series of smartphones. Apparently, it’s not the same as the Redmi Note 9S that we’ve reviewed here as it comes with a few major differences. Think of the Redmi Note 9S as an in-betweener for the Redmi Note 9 and the Redmi Note 9 Pro.
And the Mi Note 10 Lite is also a part of this announcement. Let’s do a quick recap on each phone alongside the prices and availability.
Redmi Note 9
Starting off with the new entry-level smartphone into the Redmi Note series. The Redmi Note 9, even though it is technically the lowest in price within the Redmi Note series, it still packs in quite a punch.
- 6.53-inch IPS LCD screen
- 1080p resolution
- MediaTek Helio G85 chipset
- Up to 4GB RAM
- Up to 128GB storage
- Quadruple rear-facing cameras
- Main: 48MP f/1.8 with PDAF
- Ultra-wide angle: 8MP f/2.2
- Macro: 2MP f/2.4 with AF
- Depth sensor
- 13MP f/2.3 selfie camera
- 5,020mAh battery
- Wired 18W fast charging
It has an interesting list of specs with an interesting price to match as well:
- 3GB RAM + 64GB storage @ RM649 (Flash sale on 18th May @ RM599)
- 4GB RAM + 128GB storage @ RM749 (pre-order 11th to 17th May, free 10,000mAh Redmi Powerbank)
Redmi Note 9 Pro
In many aspects, the Redmi Note 9 Pro is very similar to the Redmi Note 9S. Here is the full list of specs for the Redmi note 9 Pro:
- 6.67-inch IPS LCD screen
- 1080p resolution
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G
- 6GB RAM
- Up to 128GB storage
- Quadruple rear-facing cameras
- Main: 64MP f/1.9 with PDAF
- Ultra-wide angle: 8MP f/2.2
- Macro: 5MP f/2.4 with AF
- Depth sensor
- 16MP f/2.5 selfie camera
- 5,020mAh battery
- Wired 30W fast charging
The main advantages that the Redmi Note 9 Pro has are only the main camera sensor and also the faster 30W charging. It has a price bump to RM1,099, too. While I think the price is reasonable for those upgrades, we should consider if those upgrades are worth getting.
Anyway, here is the local price for the Redmi Note 9 Pro:
- 6GB RAM + 129GB storage @ RM1,099
Pre-order begins today until 17th May 2020, and you can also get a free 10,000mAh Redmi Powerbank too.
Mi Note 10 Lite
Yea, Xiaomi just announced the arrival of the Mi Note 10 Lite too. This is to complete the Mi Note 10 series of smartphones and it comes with this list of specs:
- 6.47-inch AMOLED screen
- 1080p resolution
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G
- 6GB RAM
- Up to 128GB storage
- Quadruple rear-facing cameras
- Main: 64MP f/1.9 with PDAF & Laser AF
- Ultra-wide angle: 8MP f/2.2
- Macro: 2MP f/2.4
- Depth sensor
- 16MP f/2.5 selfie camera
- 5,260mAh battery
- Wired 30W fast charging
Technically, it is still in-line with the Mi Note series mantra, as it still is a phone with a focus on its cameras. It is equipped with a 64MP main camera sensor as opposed to the 108MP on the Mi Note 10 that we reviewed here.
But then again, pixel count is not the full story. Maybe the Mi Note 10 Lite can also take striking images, but without the resolution to match.
The Mi Note 10 Lite is available at these variants at these prices:
- 8GB RAM + 128GB storage @ RM1,599
- Free Mi Business Backpack 2 for purchases on Lazada
- Free 20,000mAh Redmi Powerbank for authorized retail stores
