We spent quite some time with the Redmi Note 9 Pro and we do have some thoughts to share about this smartphone. However, there aren’t many differences between the Redmi Note 9S (which we already reviewed) and the Redmi Note 9 Pro.

We’re only going to focus on two things in this quick review – the main camera and also the charging speed. Compared to the Redmi Note 9S, the Redmi Note 9 Pro has a 64MP camera and support for 30W fast charging. Everything else remains identical between those two phones. Here’s a quick table depicting all the differences between the Redmi Note 9 family of smartphones.

And here we go. I highly suggest you watch this video instead of reading because many things here are told in the video but not through this article.

Camera

I complained about the Redmi Note 9S not having a good camera compared to the Redmi Note 8 Pro. And now, we can see that it has returned to its former glory with the Redmi Note 9 Pro. I absolutely love the clarity of this camera.

It’s a little dark and the colors could have been better – but then again, this is a budget mid-range smartphone and I’m impressed still.

30W fast charging

Redmi Note 9 Pro

Xiaomi included a 33W charger in the box itself together with the Redmi Note 9 Pro, but the phone can only take in a total of 30W. Anyway, the battery life goes up from 15% to 50% in about 25 minutes – and I’m impressed once again.

Is the Redmi Note 9 Pro worth its price?

The main question here is this – that RM1,099 for the Redmi Note 9 Pro, is it worth the extra price to pay just for the 64MP camera and fast charging? I think there is a clear answer to this question.

If you like mobile photography on a budget, then yes – get the Redmi Note 9 Pro. However, if you aren’t serious about smartphone photography, then get the Redmi Note 9S.

The fast charging doesn’t really matter since it comes with a 5,020mAh battery which can last for a long time – about 2 days with a single charge.
