It’s a double treat from Samsung today and the news doesn’t seem to be small at all! Samsung has now ventured into the market for mobile optimized audio products with an entirely new line of division of products called Level. Also, Samsung launched 4 new products under the Level line of products. The Level audio products are named rather simplistically. Basically, here’s a simplified overview of what are the names of the products and what it is.
- Level Over – Samsung’s flagship over-the-ear headphones
- Level On – Compact style over-the-ear headphones
- Level In – In-ear earphones
- Level Box – A boombox-styled audio speaker.
Basically Samsung has all the form factor of portable audio products covered – and they claim that Level Over is for audiophiles, which is what separates the Level Over and the Level On. As of now, all of the four Level products are available in white and black colour, with both the Level Over and Level On having some brown accent on it. A nice addition by Samsung is that the Level Box has NFC integrated in it for easy pairing. Apple device users – please weep at the corner.
I have to admit – they don’t look as badly designed as their Samsung Galaxy phones. For further specifications on each of the Level products, head on over to Samsung Tomorrow for more details. Next up is the Samsung Galaxy K Zoom.
It’s not the first time Samsung had launched something similar as this – the Galaxy Camera was somewhat a success – given the sequel that was released to the market recently. However, the Galaxy Camera was an Android-based camera device, and does not have the capabilities to make phone calls. Samsung had “acknowledged” your dilemma and is now offering a new form factor for camera-smartphones – the Galaxy K Zoom. If you recall the Galaxy S4 Zoom, this is something similar. You get a camera, and you can make calls on it, instead of just being a camera with Android on it.

Here’s a quick spec rundown
- 4.8-inch, Super AMOLED display, 1280×720 resolution screen
- Has 6 cores – 1.3GHz quad-core + 1.7GHz dual-core processor
- Android 4.4 KitKat
- 20.7MP rear-facing camera
- Aperture of F3.1-6.3
- 10x optical zoom
- Optical image stabilization
- 24-240mm zoom lens
- Xenon flash
- 2MP front-facing camera
- 2GB RAM
- 8GB internal storage
- micro SDSC expandable up to 2GB
- micro SDHC expandable up to 32GB
- micro SDXC expandable up to 64GB
- 2430mAh battery
Well, first of all given the 24-240mm lens, you do get a 10x optical magnification out of it. Technically it is a wide angle lens – you can take your selfies with the rear-facing camera pretty neatly and can include all of your friends with no problems.
The screen resolution is absolutely disappointing, given that this is a camera phone, I should be able to see my pictures in a super high resolution screen. Thankfully, Samsung did include the dedicated camera button for ease of use. The Galaxy K Zoom is available in 3 colours – Electric Blue, black and also white.
As for now, there are still no pricing or availability of the Galaxy Zoom K nor the entire line of Level audio products. We can only wait for now. Even I am curious on what price tag Samsung will put on all the products announced today.
