Samsung’s multi-year experience in developing foldable smart devices has led them to create the latest Galaxy Z Fold3 5G and Z Flip3 5G smartphones and they are selling like hot cakes. Seeing the trend of these flippy and foldy phones rise in popularity, President and Head of Samsung Electronics MX, TM Roh, expressed confidence in continuing to be the industry leader in setting new standards in mobile technology.
Conceived from their debut in 2020, the 2021 global sales of foldable grew more than 4x and exceeded the market growth forecast by 3x showing that the world is viewing them positively. And with the sales of the Galaxy Z Fold3 5G and Z Flip3 5G outdoing the 2020 figure in just 1 month, Samsung knew they are going in the right direction. As users continue to develop new habits such as taking videos and photos in Flex Mode and multitasking on split-screen with S Pen, more software support will be provided by 3rd party companies in cooperation with Samsung.
Touching on the subject of 5G, TM Roh does confirm that the adoption of 5G in SEA is still developing and thus limited in the region but Samsung is working closely with local regulators to get their devices certified for connection to the latest commercial cellular technology. The connected lifestyle is also a key focus to allow Galaxy users to achieve aspirations via multiple Galaxy products.
Samsung is also using technology to protect Mother Earth via the Galaxy for the Planet commitment and putting sustainability at the center of its innovations. One such example is the Generation17 program in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) which aims to advance the 17 Global Goals via the power of young, ambitious individuals.
Specifically, the SEA and Oceania region has seen a rapid rise in the growth of the digital economy, driven by the ambitions, lifestyles, and technological skillsets of young digital natives. Therefore, the South Korean giant will make sure all resources needed for the realization of these young people are met.
