When I saw the email with the words “Galaxy Fold”, I couldn’t believe my eyes. I had to reread that email a few times. Fortunately, it was a short email but still, I couldn’t contain my excitement. It’s the Galaxy Fold. And it’s coming to Malaysia soon.
3rd May is the day, at 9.30am. This is the day and time whereby we will finally get to lay our hands on the Galaxy Fold – the world’s first foldable phone to the market. The reviews of the Galaxy Fold is already out, by the way.
The Galaxy Fold is the first ever foldable phone that has two different displays – one smaller one while folded, and another larger one when unfolded. By employing this folding form factor, you can reduce the chance of scratching the display when laying the phone down on any surface. Also, glass cannot be folded – hence they are using some plastic screen to protect the AMOLED panel.
We have talked about the Galaxy Fold torture test video that showed no crease, but reviews of the Galaxy Fold are already out. Engadget has specifically highlighted that the crease is indeed there, and it is prominent. We will wait until we get our hands on the Galaxy Fold before making any comment or judgment.
As for the specs of the Galaxy Fold, you can refer to this handy infographic that Samsung has provided.
Honestly, I cannot contain my excitement as the Galaxy Fold is a truly interesting device and the pioneer of a new form factor for tomorrow’s smartphone.
