Over the past few weeks when a video showing that the Galaxy Fold was out in the wilds, everyone was berating Samsung for having a clearly visible crease when unfolded. With the Galaxy Fold’s official release date slated to be on 26th April 2019, Samsung’s video of the Galaxy Fold folding torture test couldn’t be more well-timed.

In this video, we were shown that the Galaxy Fold(s) were folded and unfolded multiple times over multiple angles and none of them showed any visible crease. Samsung claims that the Galaxy Fold is extensively tested before releasing it to the market.

It is claimed that the Galaxy Fold can “outlast 200,000 folds and unfolds”, or about 5 years if folding/unfolding 100 times a day. This is a benchmark set by Samsung as it is claimed that this is a reasonable use case scenario. Though, if I am to use the Galaxy Fold as a fidget toy then it will surely be folding/unfolding more than 100 times a day.

As many of us, we are worried that there will be an obvious crease. This folding torture test is actually carefully filmed by Samsung, as it the filming angles are meticulously chosen to show reflections on the screen while folding. The reflections themselves will highlight the crease – if there are any. From the multiple different angles that are shown in the video, there is no visible crease.

Does this put our worry about the visible crease to rest? Pretty much. Still, we want to test and see it for ourselves when the Galaxy Fold arrives in Malaysia. It was teased during the Galaxy S10 series grand launch at Sky Avenue, Genting, last month.
