It’s a glorious day (night for us Malaysians) for Samsung as they’ve just launched the new Galaxy Note9. It’s a phone that packs all of the latest and greatest features – with new innovations as well. Let’s take a look at what’s new.

Samsung has sent us a total of 3 different teasers leading up to this grand launch. First one being the all-day battery life, secondly is about storage, and thirdly being speed and power. Samsung delivered these 3 things with its mind-blowing specs.

Samsung Galaxy Note9 Launch

While we have always complained about Samsung flagship smartphones’ battery lives for ages, this time they took heed and did something. For the first time ever, Samsung is putting a 4,000mAh battery into their phone – and the Note9 is the first one to get this treatment. Combined with Samsung’s Exynos 9810 Octa chipset, the Galaxy Note9 is looking to be the best smartphone money can buy right now.

Secondly, store more. Samsung is the first ever smartphone to offer up to 512GB of internal storage. If you run out of that 512GB of internal storage for whatever reason, then go get another Samsung 512GB microSD card and slot it in. You’ll have 1TB of storage to use. What you’re going to do with that – I don’t know. 1TB is surprisingly difficult to fully utilize.

Thirdly, speed and power. The Exynos 9810 Octa chipset that the Galaxy Note9 (and also the Galaxy S9) uses is fabricated using 10nm process – which you can learn about its benefits here. In short, 10nm process can provide higher speed while consuming lower energy, thus increasing efficient. For mobile gamers, Samsung has developed a Water Carbon Cooling system and paired it with the on-device AI-based performance adjusting algorithm to deliver powerful and stable performance.

The cameras got an upgrade too. It features the dual-camera system (learn more here) like what was found on the Note8 – one 12MP primary camera and another 12MP camera with 2x zoom lens. The biggest upgrade is in its software as the Galaxy Note9 now features scene optimizer, flaw detection for when a subject blinked or blurred, and advanced features like noise reduction and the variable aperture camera.

Honestly speaking, we expect the Galaxy Note9’s camera to perform greatly as we’ve already seen what the Galaxy S9 can do.

And of course, the S Pen. Personally, the S Pen is the one big upgrade that I’m looking forward to. It is now connected with your Galaxy Note9 via Bluetooth LE (low energy) and the button can now work as a remote control. We were shown that the S Pen can be used to control the presentation slides, take pictures, and many more. Samsung is also opening up the SDK for developers to go ham on this new feature.

The Galaxy Note9 will be available for pre-order starting on 10th August until 19th August 2018. The Note9 will officially be in Malaysia starting in August 24th 2018 and comes in 3 colors – Midnight Black with the black S Pen, Metallic Copper with the matching copper-colored S Pen, and Ocean Blue with the yellow S Pen.
