Samsung Electronics Malaysia has finally announced the arrival of the brand new Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 and has the starting price of RM1,099. There are a few upgrades from the previous generation too.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 was first announced during the UNPACKED event alongside the Galaxy Note10 series of smartphones. It takes on a very similar design language and geometry as the predecessor, making it suitable as a watch and also a fitness band because of the features that it offers.
The Galaxy Watch Active 2, just like its predecessor, is made to provide real-time form and fitness coaching while assisting the user to get up and move around frequently. Since I am personally using a Galaxy Watch Active (the first generation), it is actually quite interesting so know how fast time flies while I’m sitting still on the chair.
The Galaxy Watch Active 2 also has faster health sensors to take readings faster, and has a total of more than 39 different workouts to choose from. Out of those 39 different workouts, 7 of them are automatically activated when it detects.
The Galaxy Watch Active 2 is also able to track your sleep pattern. It now also has enhanced sleep analysis algorithms to provide data and assist in improving the user’s sleep pattern.
Other than that, the Galaxy Watch Active 2 is obviously a smartwatch on its own – and it is able to show notifications too. You can send emojis or reply to your messages through the watch itself. The Galaxy Watch Active 2 also supports real-time speech to text translations in over 16 different languages.
There are also a lot of apps made for the Galaxy Watch Active 2 itself – like Spotify. Since the watch does have internal storage, you can download songs in the watch for offline listening through Bluetooth audio devices. For me personally, I found out a way to install Google Assistant onto the Galaxy Watch Active 2 and use it with my smart lights. I can tell the watch to turn off lights – how cool is that?
The Galaxy Watch Active 2 comes in a few different variants too. It is available in two different sizes – 44mm and 40mm in diameters, and in two different styles – lightweight aluminium with FKM (fluoroelastomer) band, or premium solid stainless steel with a leather strap. Of course, you can change to whatever strap or watch face you like.
