The Shopee Code League returns for this year as the demand for tech talents continues to grow, especially for an e-commerce platform of Shopee’s scale.
In an effort to answer the need for an estimated 149 million tech-related positions by the year 2025, the competition will see coders from China, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Taiwan press forward and solve some of the challenging tasks in the field of data science, data analytics, and algorithms through coding. The event is also supported by local governments and public organizations across the region including the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), with the common goal of advancing the digital economy.
Consisting of 2 categories – Open and Student, each category’s top teams will net in prize money of SGD3,000 and a chance for a full-time or internship placement with Shopee. To encourage diversity and inclusion of women in tech, a special tier dedicated to top-ranked women’s team are also made available. Apart from the competitions, Shopee and its training partners will hold a series of free training workshops starting 19 February 2021 onwards to upskill and facilitate knowledge sharing amongst participants.
Registration for the Shopee Code League 2021 is now open until 5 March 2021, 12 p.m, and is free to all students and professionals. It is also a pretty good shot for fresh graduates who are major in data science engineering to land themselves in a good job position.
