Spotify says we are streaming from our PlayStations and Xbox much more often now

In today’s news, Spotify revealed that most of us have been streaming video game soundtracks this year. We Malaysians though, have a specific taste and liking for some games.

Spotify also recorded that there’s a massive 55% global increase in streaming via game consoles over the past year. There’s also a massive 47% increase of streams via game consoles between 6am to 9am via game consoles – namely both Xbox and Playstation, where Spotify has an app for, but not for the Nintendo Switch because reasons.

Particularly in Malaysia, there is an uptick of more than 63% increase for streamings via game consoles over the past year, and the most streamed track via game consoles in Malaysia are:

• Trevor Daniel’s “Falling”
• Powfu and beabadoobee’s “death bed (coffee for your head)”
• Roddy Ricch’s “The Box”
• Arizona Zervas’s “ROXANNE”
• The Weeknd “Blinding Lights”

For game soundtracks, the most-streamed ones are surprising. Coming out on top is Minecraft – Volume Beta, then Doom, and finally – Death Stranding. I was even more surprised to learn the fact that Minecraft – Volume Beta was composed by C418 – which is also a composer of one of my favorite tracks from Super Meat Boy.

And here is the list of most-streamed music on Spotify for this year.
