It’s frustrating to see that we’re living in the year 2020, and people are still thinking that wireless technology that is approved for public use is harmful to us humans. If that’s true, then many of us would’ve been dead by now. True wireless earbuds would technically be a wireless microwave machine then, wouldn’t it?
Today’s frustration comes in the form of a simple hoax. Steel wool was looped on itself, creating a circle and an iPhone was placed at the center. When a call comes in, the loop of steel wool “caught fire”. Oh no! Fire!

When I first saw this, I just laughed. I know the wattage of these wireless transmissions isn’t powerful enough to even create any sort of spark to start a fire. Hence, there’s no fire while using our smartphones in petrol stations. Else, we would see fire everywhere by now.
Moreover, they’re using an iPhone in the video while the caption says “5G”. There are no 5G iPhones in the market as of now – so what are they claiming here? 🤔
I scrolled down the comments section and haha, some people actually believed it. There are a few ways to see how they faked this video. This tweet clarifies how the effect was created.
This is what you call lazy editing. I did expect this to be quite weird because there is just too much smoke in when the flame started to appear.
So no, this is a complete hoax.
