It’s not the first time we see a smart device with a built-in projector. However, it’s the first since the hiatus of such devices a few years ago. We first saw the Neffos P1 shown off during the Neffos Summer Launch 2018 here. We were rather impressed, but we only got to test the projector part of the phone.
In today’s announcement, we get to know all of the details about the Neffos P1.
Firstly, it uses an American military-grade micro-electro-mechanical system or MEMS laser technology and a three-color beam light to produce a clear and high-resolution picture on a flat wall or screen. Neffos claims that the P1 can project a screen size of 70 inches at 1.8 meters away, and it can increase up to 200 inches in screen size as the phone gets further away.
From what Neffos is claiming, the Nefos P1 is smart enough to do auto keystone correction and the image will always be rectangular. The Neffos P1 also achieved a contrast ratio of 5,000:1. Additionally, the P1 is capable of displaying a much wider range of color compared to most other devices using a different technology to project an image on a surface. It supports 150 percent of the NTSC color space, whereas DLP and LED projectors support between 90 percent and 128 percent color gamut in NTSC. The color gamut of the regular LCD TV covers only 60 percent of the NTSC space.

The small MEMS projector built into the Neffos P1 also consumes less power, enabling the device to project an image continuously for up to four hours on a single charge of the 4,000mAh battery.
As for the rest of the hardware, the P1 packs an octa-core processor, coupled with dual-core Mali-T860 graphics and 4GB RAM for consistently fluid experiences when gaming, multitasking, or performing a demanding task. It also sports a 5.5-inch, 1080p display. It couldn’t use anything larger than the 16:9 aspect ratio since the projector itself is in 16:9.
The Neffos P1 will be in the market later this year. Price is still unknown.
