A few months ago, ASUS started off an ARG, teasing the arrival of the special edition ASUS ROG ZPHYRS G14, which is made in collaboration with ACRNM, or ACRONYM. As a tech guy with zero fashion sense (or knowledge), I unboxed this ASUS ROG ZPHYRS G14 ACRNM to see what’s so special about it.
Acronym also custom-designed the packaging of the laptop and the power brick, including the box and also the air cushion that the laptop and power brick comes protected by. It’s a weird decision as I prefer a custom-designed laptop sleeve more than a custom air pack.
To my surprise, there are lots of little details here and there that makes it different from the original version of the ROG Zephyrus G14 that we reviewed earlier this year. With it comes a completely different laptop lid, which has holes milled throughout the entire panel, which the original G14 did not have.
The AniMe Matrix is still here, but the LED panel is still only half of the entire front panel instead of utilizing all of the holes milled. I guess that’s a good idea as it adds flair to the design and also saves on power, heat, and weight.
Also, the LEDs on the AniMe Matrix found on the ASUS ROG ZPHYRS G14 ACRNM has a pink hue instead of white like the original G14. That’s… an interesting choice.
The back panel also got a redesign with many different… things printed on it. One of them that caught my eyes was “BLACK HOLES IN THE NOW” which I have absolutely no idea what it means.
Opening up the lid shows…. a rather polarizing design, to say the least. Looking from afar, the color scheme looks stylish and intriguing. Up close, well, it feels messy, to say the least.
Also, the power brick got a redesign too.
Still, the ASUS ROG ZPHYRS G14 ACRNM Edition laptop comes with the highest-end configuration of specs and also a custom design, which warrants a high price of RM11,299.
