Another day, another selfie-centric smartphone. Just a few months ago we saw and reviewed the OPPO F1s, which has a 16MP selfie camera. However, the Vivo V5 offers a much more significant improvement over the OPPO F1s. The biggest selling point here is its 20MP front-facing camera.

Let’s first talk about the camera. It’s a 5MP front-facing camera with a Sony IMX376, a 20MP image sensor with the size of 1/2.78 inches. As for the lens, it’s a 5P lens with an aperture of f/2.0. Not bad considering that the Vivo V5’s selfie camera is flushed instead of having a big bulge like the ASUS ZenFone Selfie. On paper, the Vivo V5’s selfie camera is much more superior than any other selfie-centric smartphones we’ve seen before.

Now, the Vivo V5 does have other fundamental differences other than the selfie camera. For example, it has a 720p display with a MediaTek MT6750 chipset with an octa-core processor, a massive 4GB RAM, and a generous 32GB storage. Also, there’s a microSD card slot too.

As for the other list of features, the Vivo V5 has a 0.2 second unlock fingerprint sensor and an iconic vivo AK4376 HiFi music chip. They didn’t forget about productivity too, with Smart Split 2.0 to multi-task two apps together and Eye Protection Mode to filter out blue light.

The event during their launch was fun too, and the the guest of honor, Dato’ Siti Nurhaliza, the embassador of the Vivo V5, was there to give a speech and to take pictures with us all.

The Vivo V5 is available for pre-order now for RM1,299 at any Vivo Concept Store until 25th November 2016, and it comes with a complimentary gift box (while stocks last, of course). The Vivo V5 will be available in retail stores starting 26th November too!

I really do wish they do online pre-orders and sales though. Makes things easier for you and me.
