Vivo and ZEISS just recently announced a long-term strategic partnership that focuses on developing new innovative ideas and products in mobile imaging technology with the first co-engineered imaging solution being deployed in Vivo’s X60 series smartphone.
As part of the agreement, a joint R&D program and research facility are created to manifest new optics and optoelectronics technology to design products that fit the demands and requirements of customers which will be handled by Vivo’s consumer data insight and ZEISS’s mobile imaging talent. Starting with Vivo’s X60 series smartphone, it will be featuring ZEISS’s Vario-Tessar lenses with T* anti-reflecting coating.
In addition to the joint R&D program, both companies will launch the “Vivo ZEISS Master Photography” campaign to promote the Vivo ZEISS co-engineered imaging system and to inspire users to enjoy their creativity with Vivo’s flagship smartphones.
On the other side of things, this long term collaboration adds yet another business partner to ZEISS Optic in addition to Nokia and Sony. With lots of smartphones utilizing Sony IMX sensors for most of them, it’s nice to see more variations of camera lenses and their performance combined with software imaging algorithms and fair against other mainstream cameras.
