Alright so let’s go off-script because I want to talk about the chipset situation a little. The one main reason why the Mi 10 series of smartphones is expensive – the new Snapdragon 865 chipset. Everything comes with a price but Qualcomm made the decision to bake in the 5G modem into the Snapdragon 865 chipset.

And 5G is having an unnecessary controversy too, no thanks to people like Keri Hilson who tweeted out saying 5G means coronavirus. This will make the acceptance of 5G even more difficult and slower, which means it’ll take some time to expand its ubiquity and to drive the price down.

Either way, the Mi 10 is here, and it has 5G. To pre-order the Xiaomi Mi 10 series of smartphones, click here.
