Xiaomi has announced that the 15th edition of BMW Shorties will be filmed and captured through the brand’s latest Mi 11 smartphone.
A long-standing competition to discover talent and one of the most prestigious events for rising content creators to join, the latest installment will see BMW Shorties alumni Dick Chua, Ananth Subramaniam, and Tan Ce Ding present their latest short films shot entirely with the Mi 11 – no additional cameras required. The initiative also launched a brand new category for the competition as well which is the ‘Mobile Filmmaking Award’ that requires participants to record footage purely using mobile devices, if it wasn’t obvious enough.
With brands starting to utilize high power lenses and powerful algorithms to boost the quality of images and photos captured by mobile devices, more colorful and distinctive marketing projects have been launched such as vivo’s ZEISS-filmed short story ‘The Incident’. Xiaomi’s strategy wasn’t that unique but at least it is taking a different way of expressing things around.
The alumni’s end products will be presented once they are ready which will be published on Xiaomi Malaysia’s Facebook page.
