With a bit of creativity, engineers can create some of the most bizarre products that we’ve seen. The new Nubia X by ZTE is one of those products, as it uses two screens and avoids any notches or motorized cameras. To maintain a high screen-to-body ratio, the Nubia X ditches selfie cameras.

I personally think that this is a good idea since the selfie cameras are inferior to the main rear-facing cameras anyway. Since Nubia X ditches the selfie cameras, you can still take selfies with its 16MP + 20MP rear-facing cameras by looking at the screen – but through the screen at the back of the phone.

Yes, there’s another OLED display underneath the rear glass panel where you can literally use it as a secondary screen, or as a “screensaver” to give your Nubia X a personal touch.

Both of the screens are different, obviously. The main screen is a 6.26-inch display with 19:9 aspect ratio and 2280×1080 pixels in resolution, whereas the rear screen is a 5.1-inch display with a 19:9 aspect ratio but 1520×720 pixels in resolution.

Unlike other smartphones in the market where they’re literally discarding the fingerprint scanner, the Nubia X implemented two side-mounted fingerprint scanners. Yes – two.

To power the whole phone is the current flagship Snapdragon 845 chipset with up to 8GB RAM and also 256GB of storage. The Nubia X is kept alive with a 3,800mAh battery.

The dual-screen implementation has a few other benefits as well. You can fit in a larger battery compared to a slider mechanism which divides the phone in two. You can IP-certify the phone since there are zero moving parts. You can even use the screen behind as trigger buttons for games!

Will it be equivalent or better than ASUS ROG Phone’s AirTriggers? Maybe. We’ll have to see if the Nubia X will be available in Malaysia, then perhaps we can get a chance to try it out.
