It’s been an amazing launch here at Camp 5 last Friday, where HTC launched the all new Desire EYE smartphone. A moment of joy where we can just selfie all we want with the 13MP front facing camera. Also, what’s Camp 5 without some rock climbing?

Let’s be honest here – the HTC Desire EYE doesn’t have the latest and greatest hardware. It doesn’t have the 2K resolution display that everyone is going crazy for. However, the HTC Desire EYE has a 5.2-inch 1080p display, powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, alongside with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage with up to 128GB of expansion through micro SD card.

The magical part about the HTC Desire EYE is that both the rear and front facing camera are rated at 13MP, yet it is also waterproof so that you can take all your beautiful selfies underwater. Great.

The lens though is a little bit different, as the front facing camera is a little wider in angle but with a slightly smaller aperture. Both forever are still amazing cameras.

Yet guess what – the HTC Desire EYE is available now for RM1,699 only! It’s also available in two colours – Submarine Blue and Coral Red. I just have to say though, the blend of colours make this phone look absolutely magnificent.

HTC is all about trying new things this year – and this time around they’re launching their very own camera. Not just any other camera, it’s a periscope-shaped camera with 16MP CMOS sensor and a 146º wide-angle lens.

The RE camera can be considered as an IoT, as it is a single-handed device where you have all the necessary requirements to take a beautiful photo built inside.

This small little camera can go underwater for 1 meter at a maximum of 30 minutes, but if you get another extra accessory, it can go underwater for even deeper and longer – which is amazing for such a short device!

As of now, we’ve seen the charging dock which doubles as a time-lapse capturing tripod, and another strap to get this RE camera sitting nice and firm onto the bicycle.

I don’t think many people will realize how small it is too, as my hand can grab the entire RE camera. And it’s meant to be done so, as there is a huge shutter button on where the thumb rests.

Beep beep. I love the RE camera. Seriously. So much that it’s even available for sale in mid-December with 3 colours to choose from – Navy, Orange, and White, at only RM699. Very reasonable price for such a magnificent device.
