We all know MWC2019 was last week – but HONOR does have another news regarding their latest development in smartphone. Introducing Gaming+, it is a technology that improves your gameplay by having better graphics with higher definition. As of now, this feature is only for the HONOR View20.
Gaming+ comes with optimizations done for GPU efficiency in terms of power and load. HONOR claims that the Kirin 980 chipset’s AI loading prediction can also squeeze a bit more performance out. Hence, the chipset can bump up the rendered resolution and downscale it back to 1080p, creating a sharper and clearer image.
In terms of numbers, the Gaming+ firmware improvement improves the overall SoC power efficiency by 20.34% in Vulkan test by reducing duplicate instructions and reduces unused rendered frames while improving bandwidth between CPU, GPU, and memory.
HONOR also claims that there is more than 30% improvement in terms of load prediction accuracy compared to the conventional method. With this GPU optimization comes better image quality and reduced power consumption – which is a win-win situation.
As for why HONOR is so proud on the Vulkan GPU score, that is because of Fortnite. We know that Fortnite for Android will run at 60FPS on the HONOR View20 already, and the Vulkan version of Fortnite for Android is coming soon as well. Other titles like QQ Speed and Arena of Valor are already Gaming+ certified to provide the high definition gaming.
You can check out our full in-depth review of the HONOR View20 here too. Not only that it is a great performer, it can also take great pictures with the 48MP rear-facing camera. The 48MP AI Ultra Clarity feature can also take great pictures as well. We went to Paris and took pictures by using only the HONOR View20 and we are very pleased with the results.
