Android 8.0 has been out for quite some time – and the upcoming Android P preview is already out too. ASUS isn’t the fastest when it comes to updates – in fact, it’s really slow. Back during the ASUS ZenFone 4 launch in Taiwan last August, there were a few slides that promised Android 8.0 Oreo updates for the ZenFone 3 family of smartphones. Now, ASUS is delivering that promise.

Android 8.0 OREO Update for ZenFone 3 Series

It has just announced that the ASUS ZenFone 3 Laser, ZenFone 3 Deluxe, and ZenFone 3 Zoom will all be tasting Oreo with Android 8.0 update that’s coming this month. Yes – ASUS themselves said that the updates are releasing for all of these 3 phones by the end of this month.

In case you haven’t already know, ASUS does their FOTA updates a little strangely. They are usually slow to release new major updates – like from Nougat to Oreo – but they really improve and stabilize the existing version of Android that they’re using.

Android 8.0 Oreo Release Period

ZenFone 3 Laser ZC551KL End-March 2018
ZenFone 3 Deluxe ZS550KL Mid-March 2018
ZenFone 3 Zoom ZE553KL End-March 2018

For me personally, I’m still using the ZenFone 3 Zoom from when we’ve reviewed it here initially. I still love the phone for its battery life, and I’m just anxiously waiting for the Android 8.0 upgrade to arrive.

End of March isn’t that far away either – today is already the 14th, considered “mid-March”.

[UPDATE]: ZenFone 3 Zoom Oreo update delayed!

As many of you may know, the Android 8.0 Oreo update for ZenFone 3 Zoom has been delayed even further now. How far? We just got word that it’ll arrive some time in mid-May. Perhaps around the time that the upcoming ZenFone Max Pro (M1) is launching?
