There was actually a King of Mobile last year – albeit at a smaller scale and it was at Talent Lounge. This year, ASUS Malaysia teamed up with Pokde.net once more to bring everyone the King of Mobile 2018 edition. The game that was chosen this time is Garena’s Free Fire Battlegrounds – because battle royale genre is the in thing right now.

The event was held at Mighty Monster in MyTown Shopping Mall, Cheras. Monster Energy drink was there too, distributing their energy drinks to participants who really need that sugar rush.

In contrast to last year’s event that had a total of 4 games, King of Mobile 2018 only has Free Fire Battlegrounds. Considering that it’s a king of the hill type of contest, battle royale game really does make sense here.

There were a total of 80 participants who took part in Free Fire Battlegrounds. At first they’re in squads of 4 person, and at the final round – it’s a free for all. Deathmatch. The last 4 person standing won fantastic prizes. After a grueling battle of patience and skills, the King of Mobile 2018 is Abdul Malik, and he walked away with the King of Mobile trophy, the ASUS ZenFone Max Plus (M1), ROG Ranger Backpack, Mighty Monster vouchers, and Garena in-game premiums. Runner ups Azwan Radzali, Noor Alif Danial, and Siti Aisyah did not walk away empty handed as they were awarded some Mighty Monster vouchers, Garena in-game premiums as well as the ASUS ZenFone Max Plus M1 for their notable achievements in the tournament.

The intensity and tension is in the air

That’s not all – there were obviously giveaways in between matches too. To thanks those who stayed until the end, ASUS Malaysia also had numerous lucky draw prizes up for grabs, including the ASUS ZenFone 4 Max and many ROG accessories.

And yes – with the growing demand of better and cheaper smartphones, even sub-RM1k smartphones can run a game like Free Fire Battlegrounds without an issue. The smartphone of choice for this year is the ASUS ZenFone Max Plus (M1), which we reviewed it here. For just RM899, you can have a great gaming experience and get work done.
