ASUS is having a humongous event at New York on the 18th of October 2018 to finally officially launch the ASUS ROG Phone to the world! Well, many people already got their hands on the earlier versions of the ROG Phone already – but those are not officially “finalized” or “retail” version of the phone just yet.

ASUS North America tweeted this. It’s coming to 18th October 2018 in New York, and more details to come soon.

Honestly, we already looked at the ROG Phone during Computex 2018 and we also got to experience the 3 accessories – TwinView Dock, Mobile Desktop Dock, and the majestic WiGig Controller. We also know that the ROG Phone is already in Malaysia and awaiting to be sold since it already passed the SIRIM certification.

From the looks of it, we think nothing much has changed since its debut in Computex 2018. Though, the market around the gaming phone industry has shifted.

ASUS ROG Phone

The ROG Phone is the first one to be using a binned Snapdragon 845 chipset. It’s factory overclocked to 2.96GHz – which is about 160Hz higher than its factory default speed. However, will higher CPU clock speeds make a difference in the gaming performance of the ROG Phone?

We think that the ROG Phone’s true value is in the accessories and features. The phone is specially designed to be the gaming phone. You have the AeroActive Cooler – a detachable fan that attaches to the back of the phone – and also dual USB-C ports on the phone. You can plug it in at the side while you game so that the cable won’t get in the way of your hands.

Then comes the 3 accessories that we saw. Honestly, they’re all interesting and I’m really looking forward to using these accessories while gaming.

Though, if you want pure performance on a phone with zero accessories, then there’s always the Pocophone F1 for you.
