ColorOS 15 has been out in the market for a few weeks already – and we already experienced it extensively on the OPPO Find X8 Pro, which we have reviewed here. In that review, we have a section talking about ColorOS 15 – but we want to expand and talk more about it here.
The new ColorOS actually comes with more than a buttery smooth experience. It is now infused with AI features that are actually useful, and also have some new features OPPO’s Touch to Share functionality, among other things.
Let’s talk about the smoothness first. It is one of the biggest emphasis in this latest generation of smartphones – and OPPO’s ColorOS 15 is unbelievably smooth. It’s like eyecandy every time I do a swipe on the phone. Thanks to the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chipset and the 120Hz refresh rate screen, it never showed any signs of slowdown or have any frames within the super-smooth animation look weird.
Of course, AI is a big deal this time too. On top of some of the features that we already come to love and enjoy like AI Summary which summarizes the entire website and bypasses all the ads, we also have something new called AI Speak. It will just read the entire website for us. We can change the voice and the speed, or skip forward an entire paragraph at the press of a button. We can also let it continue to read the website while we’re doing something else.
On top of that, we can even do more on other apps like Gmail. It still has the AI Summary and AI Speak when we’re reading emails, and we can use the AI Writer feature to help us write an email quickly. It really does cut a lot of repetitive tasks out from our daily workflow and we can also rephrase some angry emails into something more polite.
These are just a few of my personal favorite features, but there are even more AI features available—like AI Reply, AI Recording Summary, and Voice Translate. We can literally write an entire thesis about these features only.
Of course, one of the features that I use a lot is Circle to Search. It’s as simple as holding onto the center bottom of the screen, then we can have the option to literally circle something and search, or hit the translate button to translate the entire page. Or even hitting the music icon to automatically search for the music that is playing now.
It’s a simple yet handy feature to have for those who are shopping, translating an entire webpage or certain parts of a picture, or want to know more about a landmark for example.
One of the most unique feature will literally get us connected with our friends. It’s called Touch to Share and it enables us to share files and photos from our OPPO Find X8 Pro that is powered by the ColorOS 15, to an iPhone. Just be sure to have the O+ Connect app installed and permissions granted.
We can just share a file as usual and hit the Share with iPhone button – and then just tap the phones together, and the files will be transferred!
By the way, Live Photos taken on the OPPO Find X8 Pro also works on the iPhone and vice versa.
While on the subject of photos, there are also more AI features to enhance the photos that you’ve already taken with the OPPO Find X8 Pro. For example, we have the Enhance Clarity feature that does what it say – and also the ability to erase something annoying out of a picture. Again, there are many more features available here as well but these are my favorites.
There are already a lot of devices available in the market today that are using ColorOS 15 already – like the latest OPPO Find X8 series. More will be added soon – and you can enjoy all these features too!
