While we all know that Google has proclaimed that Huawei and Honor smartphones released thus far will receive support despite Trump’s banhammer, future major software updates are still up in the air. Both companies have come out and said the same thing – current users of their smartphones will receive Android Q update.
This is indeed great news for all Huawei and Honor users as we are all worried about software support. If current users are to be forced to port over to whatever software they are going to use next… the transitional process will be problematic.
Either way, for Huawei and Honor to promise us Android Q is a bold move despite not knowing what will be happening in the future. To instill confidence and calm the storm that is brewing on the customer’s side is important.
From SlashGear, we got the quote that reads:
Our most popular current devices, the Honor 20 series,” the company continued, “Honor 20 Lite, Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro, will be able to access Android Q.
Funny thing is, it mentioned only the Honor 20 series that was launched recently. There was no mention of the Honor View20 that we praised highly of. Perhaps they merely missed out the mention of that phone.
In other note, Huawei launched a Q&A webpage to address concerns. One of it is regarding Android Q arrival and Huawei listed out the phones that will receive the update:
- P30 Pro
- P30
- Mate 20
- Mate 20 Pro
- PORSCHE DESIGN Mate 20 RS
- P30 Lite
- Mate 20 X
- Mate 20 X (5G)
- P20 Pro
- P20
- Mate 10 Pro
- PORSCHE DESIGN Mate 10
- Mate 10
- Mate 20 Lite
It’s great to see Huawei promising updates for these phones for as old as the Mate 10 series, but not the P10 for some reason. In whichever case, a promise will forever be a promise and we are looking forward to the day where Huawei and Honor deliver their promises.
