The Huawei Mate 20 Pro that was highly anticipated late last year just got a price cut. In just 4 months after its debut, the Mate 20 Pro will receive a permanent price cut. The new price will start from RM2,999 starting on 1st March 2019 – which is in a few hours.

The Mate 20 Pro which we reviewed here has the latest Kirin 980 chipset with great performance to offer. Also ,the Mate 20 Pro has triple cameras at the back – and the ultrawide angle camera has autofocus as well. That in itself is a plus point as the competitors do not have it.

Then comes the battery and the charger. As we mentioned before, the Mate 20 Pro has the largest battery that supports really fast and speedy charging. It has a 4,200mAh battery with a 45W charger which can charge the phone to 100% within an hour’s time. Now that is impressive.

However, the Mate 20 Pro’s use of NM cards (discussion here) and the lack of a 3.5mm jack does leave us to desire more from the Mate 20 Pro.

Though with the new massive price cut – the Mate 20 Pro’s original price is at RM3,599 and it just received a permanent RM600 price cut, making it at RM2,999 now. That is a humongous price cut – and better yet, the price cut will be in effect in starting 1st March.

Of course, the RM2,999 is for the base model of the Mate 20 Pro only. The base model has 6GB of RAM and also 128GB of storage. We asked Huawei if there will be any price cuts for the higher-tiered Mate 20 Pro, but we did not receive a “yes” or ETA on when that will happen. That just means the price gap has widened even more now.

All things aside, the Mate 20 Pro for RM2,999 seems like a more reasonable price now. Let’s just hope that Huawei has solved the Mate 20 Pro’s green screen issue.
