The ASUS ZenFone 4 was launched not too long ago at Taiwan. We even got a trip to experience the grand launching. Now, ASUS is back again with the brand new series of smartphones in the market – introducing the ZenFone 5, ZenFone 5Z, and the ZenFone 5 Lite.

ASUS ZenFone 5

Let’s start off with the ZenFone 5. From what we can see, it’s the ZenFone 5 now has a 6.2-inch screen in a traditional 5.5-inch phone body, equipped with Snapdragon 636 chipset with AI capability enhanced for photography. It’s also the first globally-announced smartphone in the world to use the Snapdragon 636 chipset with AI Multi-Core Engine. Of course, it also has dual-cameras.

The ZenFone 5Z is the top-of-the-line this time, and it comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It’s the first ever smartphone to be equipped with the Snapdragon 845 chipset with AI Mult-Core Engine and Snapdragon X20 Gigabit LTE mode.

Both ZenFone 5 and ZenFone 5Z are equipped with Sony IMX363 sensors, f/1.8 wide-aperture lens, 120° wide-angle secondary camera, and 4-axis optical image stabilization (OIS). Seems pretty promising, I should say.

Both the ASUS ZenFone 5 and ZenFone 5Z have ASUS AI Boost – a feature that optimizes performance for games and other demanding tasks. With AI at hand, the dual-camera systems can be used for photography as well. It uses AI to detect scenes, so it’ll know you’re taking a picture of a scenery and changes some settings for you automatically to create the best-looking picture.

Oh right, ASUS also added ZeniMoji – their own version of animoji.

ASUS ZenFone 5 Lite

ASUS is also releasing the ZenFone 5 Lite, which is meant for selfies. It won’t have the familiar-looking design that the ZenFone 5 and 5Z has, but instead opted for a more traditional 18:9 aspect ratio display with 1080p resolution instead. It’ll have a total of 4 cameras: 2 x 20MP selfie cameras and 2x 16MP rear-facing cameras.

The ASUS ZenFone 5 Lite comes in two variants – either with Snapdragon 430 chipset or Snapdragon 630 chipset  and either with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage or 4GB RAM with 64GB of storage.

As for price and availability, ASUS Malaysia has yet to make any sort of announcement, so I guess we’ll have to wait to find out.
