I’m going to jump right into the conclusion with this mouse – the RoG GX860 Buzzard is a mouse that I like waaaaaaaaaay more than the RoG Gladius, due to its shape and weight in particular. Though to explain why, that’s the purpose of this entire review. Let’s get right into it!
The unboxing experience is rather basic – but ASUS did an absolutely fantastic job in making the box so that the customer can have a gist of how the mouse feels at the hand before buying it.

For the box to have a mold of the mouse is a common practice, but having a cutout for the customers to try? That’s not found in every other mouse. Kudos to ASUS for doing this!
Then, the unboxing experience chuckled me until my mom came in and asked why am I laughing like that, and I showed her what was in the box.
Spoiler : there’s only the mouse itself, and the documentation.

[nextpage title=”Design and buttons”]The Buzzard is made out mostly plastic and a few pieces of rubber here and there, making it extremely lightweight. It has what I would actually call, a big butt design. The rear part where the palm rests – that’s huge!
Enough about the big rear – the front, has some special lighting effect that I appreciate its subtle glow even though most people can’t or won’t even see it.
Small note here though, there are no removable USB cable on the mouse itself.
Then comes the top part – it features an appropriate amount of buttons – a typical left and right click, a scroll wheel button, and switches for DPI up and down! A neat touch and nice addition from ASUS, since the RoG Gladius only has one DPI switch.
On the left side is where the forward and backward switches are found, as well as an additional thumb button that does whatever the heck you want it to. All these are of course situated near a rubber side grip that has Mayan detailing.
Same rubber gripping goes to the right side too, and has no other buttons.
With all these lights though, the only downfall it has is that there is only red colour. Bummer, I know, as it would have been amazing if they have an RGB version of this, although the red colour is actually well-curated for this design.
[nextpage title=”Comfort”]It’s funny to see a mouse with such a big butt landing on my workstation – and even funnier that I actually used the RoG Buzzard for the longest of times, even longer than the RoG Gladius that I personally have.
Personally speaking, I have quite a big palm but the RoG Buzzard’s big butt was a little wider than all of the mice that I personally own. Wow.
With the nature of this shape though, the mouse is definitely suited for the palm grip style of users, but being a claw gripper that I am, a wrist rest from my cheapo mouse pad managed to save my ergonomics.

In terms of comfort, the ASUS RoG Buzzard gets an A+ from a palm and claw grip user.
If you are to use it on other grips though, it might be a little tough.
[nextpage title=”Software”]In the core of every gaming peripheral these days, the software is a big part of the experience and indirectly changes the value of said product too.
I expected the best from ASUS, and yes they delivered the best experience for the software. How?
All of the buttons are programmable. I mean all. Yes, you read that right. All are programmable, and the programmed buttons are saved on the mouse itself, so it works the same across all other computers.
When it came to lightning, you can even tune fine tune it so that the light flashes independently. Want the logo to be turned on, but turn all the others off? You can do just that through the software! Very friendly ans easy to use.
Also, the first time when I launched the software with the mouse connected, they notified me this.
Firmware updates! ASUS actually cares about the well-being of their RoG gaming mice!
The only thing I can tell you about the ASUS RoG Buzzard is this – it has a nice amount of buttons, just the way I like it. In terms of software it’s easy to use, everything is accessible easily, and the light show is very customizable, albeit only red colour.
The shape however is a little polarizing, it’s meant for those who like big butts on your hands. And that’s why I like it.
Yep, I like big butts and I cannot lie. And I really like this mouse, more than the RoG Gladius.

how much it is?? in ringgit? release already?
I suppose it is, there is no official price by ASUS Malaysia yet though.
Thanks for the review, I may as well buy this. I always wanted a ROG gaming mouse that looks good with my ROG laptop
My main concern is the life as I always broke the scroll button of my mouse. Recently I took a metal pin and fit it inside the scroll so that it won’t be broken again.
