Samsung announced the new Galaxy Note 3 which practically doesn’t seem as fascinating as it is. After watching Samsung’s 6 and a half minute video about the Galaxy Note 3 though, things get different.

With some loopy and catchy electronic beats, Samsung shows each and every corner of the new Galaxy Note 3. A quick specs rundown is as :
- 2.3GHz quad-core processor
- 3GB RAM
- 32/64GB memory (expandable with microSD)
- Android 4.3 Jelly Bean
- 3,200 mAh (100 mAh more than the Galaxy Note 2)
- 13MP rear-facing camera, 2MP front-facing camera
- 5.7-inch 1080p resolution Super AMOLED display
Let’s now look at some of the highlights of the new Galaxy Note 3!
Looks
Definitely looks. A lot better, too. Everything looks absolutely… different. And it most definitely will feel different too with all the new materials. The shape of the phone definitely is the same, but what I’m pitching here is the linings and the faux-leather back that adds the premium feel and touch to the device. Samsung calls it “textured detail” and “classic notebook inspiration” alongside with “delicate stitching”, but what I really think is that they finally know the importance of physical beauty to the device.
Ports
The ports look somewhat different from before and it’s not only in the physical aspect. The new Galaxy Note 3 will have its USB port following the number of the device – which it does support USB 3.0. The Verge got a scoop on this and said that it’s a backward compatible USB 3.0 port which explains the weirdly shaped USB port with the image below.
Yes, it’s using the USB 3.0 Micro B plug – the USB 3.0 port that is made specially for handheld devices, and Galaxy Note 3 is the first to use it. This means faster charging rate and also faster transfer rates. Few gigabytes of videos on your 64GB-variant Note 3? Transfers within seconds!
S Pen/S Memo/All the S-things
Seriously, the new pen has a more rounded shape rather than the triangular shape like its predecessor. Looks a lot better too, but that’s not the best part.
The new S Pen now works for an entirely new Air Command, where you hover the pen over the screen and a wheel of actions come out. From there, you can do everything shown in the video shown above (yes, they’re impossible to be described with words). Best part is, it’s so much closer to what we ever wanted while writing on a piece of paper. Copy pasting by dragging words? Heck yes!
The S Memo also got a more beautiful interface which resembles the interface that is used on the famous sketching app Paper by Fiftythree. I’m not complaining, I’m loving it.
To be honest with you, I really love the new Galaxy Note 3 and I can’t wait to get my hands on it! There are no availability or pricing for the Malaysian market yet, as we Malaysians will always have to wait. Just keep calm, and then go insane over the new Samsung Galaxy Note 3!
