Xiaomi has been posting lots of teasers about the Xiaomi Mi 9 for the past few days – starting from the ambassador that we saw a few days ago. And today, the Xiaomi Mi 9 has officially been announce – and the specs are as we expected.
First, let’s talk about the full specs list of the Xiaomi Mi 9:
- 6.39-inch Super AMOLED display with waterdrop notch, 2340×1080 pixels in resolution
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 855
- 1x Kryo 485 @ 2.84GHz
- 3x Kryo 485 @ 2.42GHz
- 4x Kryo 845 @ 1.8GHz
- Adreno 640 GPU with 384 ALUs
- 6GB or 8GB LPDDR4X RAM
- 64GB or 128GB internal storage
- Triple rear-facing cameras
- Main camera: 48MP f/1.8 with laser AF and PDAF
- Ultrawide: 16MP f/2.2 at 13mm with laser AF and PDAF
- Telephoto: 12MP f/2.2 at 54mm with laser AF and PDAF
- 20MP f/2.0 selfie camera
- Under-display fingerprint scanner
- 3,300mAh battery
- 27W QuickCharge 4+ compatibility
- 20W wireless charging compatibility
By looking at the specs alone, we know that the Xiaomi Mi 9 is obviously packing the latest and greatest chipset that is currently offered by Qualcomm.
To see that Xiaomi is doing away with the unusable depth sensor in favor of a dedicated ultrawide and telephoto lens is interesting as well, as many other big manufacturers like Samsung never had a depth sensor in their flagship devices for bokeh effect.
Also, Xiaomi is opting to use a Super AMOLED display that is manufactured by Samsung, which might be because of the many complaints that many people had voiced out regarding Xiaomi’s display quality. Though, it is quite jarring to see that Xiaomi still uses a waterdrop notch display rather than opting for a circular cutout like the HONOR View20 (review).
With that said, Xiaomi is having two versions of the Xiaomi Mi 9 for sale – the usual model comes in both 6GB RAM + 128GB storage for 2,999 yuan (~RM1,816.39)and the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage for 3,299 yuan (~RM1,998.12).
There’s also another Mi 9 Transparent Edition which has 12GB RAM + 256GB storage and it is priced at 3,999 yuan (~RM2,422.10).
By looking at the prices, Xiaomi certainly will once again capture the hearts of those who wants a smartphone with greatest specs at a low price.
As of now, we are only seeing prices from China but we do expect that the launching for the global version with the Battle Angel: Alita version to come on the 24th, which is on MWC.
