NVMe SSDs are becoming more and more common. CPU and motherboard manufacturers know this and hence the one big argument that says Threadripper wins X299 is the PCIe lane counts directly to the CPU. We won't get into that for this review, but let's take a look at the Plextor M8Se NVMe SSD - specifically the 256GB Plextor M8SeGN, the one that I have here. It's an M.2 form factor NVMe SSD and no heatsink.
Since the release of the Galaxy S8 and S8+ (which we reviewed here), every other smartphone brands out there has been latching onto the latest trend - longer screen. Though, instead of following Samsung's aspect ratio of 18.5:9, other smartphones opted for an 18:9 aspect ratio, which is empirically 2:1, also known as "FullView display" now. ASUS opted for more than just having a 2:1 screen for the ZenFone Max Plus M1.
There comes a time where Bluetooth speakers were still in its infancy. During those days, we looked at X-mini's Bluetooth speakers - they were tiny. It still packs a punch, though. Then there's this capsule design where you can expand the speaker like an accordion for more bass. Times have changed since then, and now we have Bluetooth speakers like the Edifier MP255 - a Bluetooth speaker with some additional features that we actually need.
The Samsung Galaxy S9. It's finally here - and Samsung claims that they have reimagined the camera. Since it is a brand new generation of flagship smartphone by Samsung, they've equipped the new Galaxy S9 with the latest and greatest hardware and software, too. Featuring nifty features like variable aperture and quirky ones like AR emoji, the Galaxy S9 has something for everyone.
Earlier this year when ASUS first made an appearance at MWC2018 and announced the ZenFone 5 family of devices, we got a glimpse of what the ZenFone 5z will have - and we have the opportunity to test it in our lab too. The ASUS ZenFone 5z is the one smartphone from ASUS this time around that will have the most powerful specs that the market has to offer - other than the upcoming ROG Phone, that is.
Over at Computex 2017, Cooler Master showed us a bunch of new products - including the successors to both the HAF and COSMOS series, namely the H500P and C700P on their 25th birthday. Needless to say, I'm excited about both these cases as I've been using the HAF932 for almost a decade now, yet I always have a soft spot for the COSMOS series. Then, the new COMSOS C700P came to us - and we gave it a whirl, despite its super heavy build.
Here comes the major flagship smartphone from Huawei - the P20. It was launched at Paris at the end of March, and was launched in Malaysian market about a week after that. And a few days after, we actually got a hold of the brand new Huawei P20.
This is the ASUS ZenFone 5 - not the ZenFone 5 back in 2014 that has Intel chipsets. With change of naming scheme from screen size to numerical increments for each generation after the first generation, it's bound to go back to ZenFone 5 once again - and it's happening here, today. ASUS even acknowledges this by making a hashtag #BackTo5 for its launch event at MWC2018.
When it comes to ASUS's lineup of gaming mice, I can't help but to say that I love the Gladius. It's ergonomic and reduces fatigue because of its shape. I've reviewed the original ROG Gladius few years back, and used it as my daily driver for about 2 years already. When the ROG Gladius II was announced, I was excited to see what ASUS has to offer.
