The ASUS ROG Phone will be launching on the 18th October 2018. And yes, we’ve already played around with the ROG Phone back at Computex 2018. But then again – for those who can’t wait and want your phone to look like the ROG Phone right now, then there are a couple of things you’ll need.
The ASUS ROG Phone went on sale in China not long ago, and the assets from within the phone got extracted and that’s why we can already make our phones to look like ROG Phone right now. Thanks to XDA Developers, we now know how we can make it happen.
We’ll first need the wallpaper. You can choose between static images like we always do. There are a few good-looking ones like the PCB trace. There are also a few wallpapers which are variations of the ROG logo.
To download the complete set of wallpapers, you’ll need to click here. There’s also another pack of wallpapers extracted from the ROG Phone launcher app – which includes some wallpapers related to Garena’s Free Fire battle royale game. You can download it here.
When we first tested the ROG Phone at Computex 2018, we found out that the phone actually has “gaming mode” which switches the wallpaper from something different. The cube opens up!
You can also imitate this effect by installing two apps – the live wallpaper itself, and the companion app. The first app is the live wallpaper itself, but there’s no “gaming mode” to open up the cube. That’s where the second app comes in. It’s a toggle switch that linuxct developed to switch between gaming and non-gaming mode.
For those who are already using an ASUS ZenFone 5 or 5z, then you’re in for a treat. You can download the ROG Phone theme for ZenUI here. Since the ROG Phone is using ZenUI but with another skin, that means other ZenFones can imitate the exact look as well.
I highly recommend you checking out the original post by XDA Developers. They also mentioned that the companion app for the gaming mode might have updates in the future. Also, XDA Developer forums have opened a sub-forum for the ROG Phone which you can check out here.
