So I think we’re all wondering – which brand is affected by SST and which brands aren’t? SST rates ranges from 5% to 10% – which is a big gap and within the category of electronics alone. It is confusing, yes – but here we’re creating a big list to tell you everything you need to know.
At this point of transitioning to SST, products that are in the market right now will have to adjust its prices to accommodate for SST. Some brands will absorb SST, and some will not. There are many brands which still have not announced any price change nor confirmed SST absorption.
Some brands have officially announced their absorption of SST via press release or Facebook posting, and some are still awaiting confirmation.
The list of brands that are absorbing SST are as below:
- Samsung (source)
- OPPO (source)
- Vivo (source)
- ASUS smartphones (unofficial; compared the prices at their LazMall store)
- Acer (source)
- OnePlus (source)
- Machines (Apple) (source)
- Switch (Apple) (source)
These brands are not absorbing SST are as below:
- Huawei (comparing before (RM1,899) and after (RM1,919) prices for Nova 3)
- Pocophone (source)
- Alcatel (unconfirmed, hinted here)

These brands have not provided any update on the prices after SST:
- Sony
- HTC
- Neffos
- Lenovo
- Honor
- Meizu
- Nubia
