For those who had been paying attention to the entry level smartphone market then you might have heard of this new upcoming brand called Realme. They’re a sub-brand of OPPO, and they claim to provide “high quality smartphones”. The phones that were launched today alongside with their arrival to the Southeast Asian market is the Realme 2, Realme 2Pro, and also the Realme C1.
From the email we got from Realme Malaysia, both the Realme 2 and Realme 2 Pro will be available in Malaysia soon. There is no mention about the Realme C1 in Malaysia – so we’ll only talk about the Realme 2 and Realme 2Pro in this article.
Also, there’s no price or availability date mentioned about the Realme 2 and Realme 2Pro in Malaysia as of now. We’ll update this page when we get more information.
The first ever smartphone in the line here is the Realme 2. It features a 6.2-inch IPS LCD display with 1520×720 pixels in resolution, powered by a Snapdragon 450 chipset. In terms of RAM and storage, it comes in either 3GB RAM + 32GB internal storage or 4GB RAM + 64GB of internal storage.
As for the camera, it comes with a 13MP f/2.2 main camera + 2MP f/2.4 depth sensor to create better bokeh effect. As for selfies, the Realme 2 is equipped with an 8MP f/2.2 camera.
Perhaps the most impressive here is that the Realme 2 actually comes with a massive 4,230mAh battery. That’ll surely last you a long time – but remember, the Snapdragon 450 is insufficient in terms of performance. Don’t expect games like PUBG Mobile or Asphalt 9 to run smoothly on the Realme 2.
The Realme 2 comes in this diamond facet cut design for its back, and it looks like OPPO F7’s Diamond Black design – just in a different color.
The all new Realme 2Pro comes with a 6.3-inch IPS LCD screen with 2340×1080 pixels in resolution. In terms of screen resolution alone, the Realme 2Pro is already better than the Realme 2. It also comes with the waterdrop notch design a la the OPPO F9.
The Realme 2Pro is available in a few different configurations. You can have either 4GB or 6GB RAM with 64GB of storage, or 8GB of RAM with 128GB of internal storage. That makes a total of 3 different variants – and we’re not sure which one is coming to Malaysia.
As for the cameras, the Realme 2Pro comes with a 16MP f/1.7 main camera + 2MP depth sensor for its dual rear-facing camera setup, and another 16MP f/2.0 camera for selfies.
To power all of the hardware, it comes with a 3,500mAh battery – which is actually disappointing knowing that the Realme 2 comes with a larger battery. The Snapdragon 660 is also very battery-hungry as shown in the Nokia 7 Plus and the Xiaomi Mi A2 that we reviewed here, where its batteries were easily chewed through.
As of now, we do not know what’s the configurations of the Realme 2 and Realme 2Pro will be available in Malaysia. We don’t even know what color options are available, let alone the price.
The only solid information we have here is that both the Realme 2 and Realme 2Pro will be coming to the Malaysian market “soon”.
