Currently, we all know that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 is going to launch soon. It was teased for months already but we know so little about that phone. Now that it has appeared in SIRIM, we know much more information regarding Xiaomi’s upcoming bang-for-buck smartphone. As for the Mi 9, it was already launched in China but we are expecting another announcement during MWC.
It seems like Xiaomi Malaysia has already gotten the Redmi Note 7 and Mi 9 certified in Malaysia and is ready to be sold in the market.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 7
The Redmi Note 7 is expected to have these specs:
- 6.3-inch IPS LCD display with waterdrop notch and 2340×1080 pixels in resolution
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset
- Up to 6GB RAM
- Up to 64GB of internal storage
- Dual rear-facing cameras
- 48MP f/1.8 main camera with PDAF
- 5MP f/2.4 depth sensor
- 13MP selfie camera
- 4,000mAh battery
- Android 9.0 Pie with MIUI 10.0
If Xiaomi Malaysia is indeed selling the Redmi Note 7 soon, it will be the first ever (hopefully) below RM1,000 smartphone to be using a 48MP camera sensor. We have seen what this amount of pixels can do to a picture when paired with the correct software – just take a look at the HONOR View20.
It is a little weird seeing that Xiaomi is once again using the Snapdragon 660 chipset since it is already found in many of Xiaomi’s arsenal of smartphones.
Here, we also know that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 will support AC WiFi, which means it utilize more of the high speed internet that Unifi Turbo offers.
While Xiaomi has not launched a smartphone in quite some time already (which is very unlike them), we expect the Redmi Note 7 to make it official Malaysia debut some time in the near future – perhaps in March, after the MWC craze.
However, we wonder if the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro will be launching in Malaysia as well since the Pro variant packs a very different set of hardware in it.
Xiaomi Mi 9
Then comes the Mi 9. We recently talked about that phone right here, but we expect to hear more about it in the coming days since Xiaomi has confirmed that they will be launching the transparent Alita edition at MWC.
Seeing it at SIRIM confirmed that the Mi 9 will indeed be available in the Malaysian market soon – and it might be launching together with the Redmi Note 7 as well.
