Since Samsung announced that there are new phones coming each month, the Galaxy A70 is the next in line that will be arriving to the Malaysian market. Continuing the Galaxy A series of mid-range smartphones, the new Galaxy A70 is larger than all of the other ones in the series, and packs even more serious hardware too.
Samsung has said that the new Galaxy A70 will feature all of Samsung’s latest and greatest features – including One UI, Bixby, Samsung Health, and even Samsung Pay. The last point here is important since we did not have Samsung Pay on the Galaxy A30 and A50.
The Galaxy A70 comes with this list of specs:
- 6.7-inch Super AMOLEd display with 2400×1080 pixels in resolution
- Infinity-U notch
- Octa-core processor with 2x 2.0GHz + 6x 1.7GHz cores
- 8GB RAM
- 128GB storage (expandable with microSD)
- Triple rear-facing cameras
- Main: 32MP f/1.7
- Ultrawide: 8MP f/2.2
- Depth sensor: 5MP f/2.2
- 32MP f/2.0 selfie camera
- 4,500mAh battery with Super Fast Charging
- Android 9.0 Pie with Samsung One UI
Samsung is quite generous in terms of information here too. The Galaxy A70 will be the first smartphone to feature Samsung’s latest fast charging technology which they are calling it the Super Fast Charging. Clocking in at a total of 25W, it is 66.67% more power than what the Galaxy S and Note series are using. Of course, it will be using USB-C as well.
We will have to wait to get our hands on the Galaxy A70 to test out how fast the charging really is. Take note that this is a massive 4,500mAh battery with support of 25W charging.
The Galaxy A70 is also Samsung’s latest phablet – and no, that form factor is still well and alive. With such a humongous display, the Galaxy A70 comes with under-display fingerprint scanner and face scanning too – which is the same as what is featured on the Galaxy S10 and the Galaxy S10+.
In an interesting surprise, Samsung is breaking the limits of aspect ratio and go all the way to 20:9. This makes the 6.7-inch display really big and long. Please do not think of dirty thoughts and the Galaxy A70 is not IP-rated.
The Galaxy A70 will be available in 3 colors – blue, black, and white.
As for the colors and availability, we will update this page when we have more information about it. Stay tuned!
UPDATE: The price is RM1,999!
Samsung Malaysia Electronics has just announced that the official price of the Galaxy A70 is at RM1,999. Yes, that is a crazily high price tag considering that the Galaxy A70 is still a mid-ranged smartphone. Yet with this high price tag, it does not support Samsung Pay.
UPDATE: You can buy it at RM1,649 now
The consumers have spoken – the price of RM1,649 is currently the price of the Galaxy A70 in the market now. Of course, Samsung themselves still retain that supremely high price.
